Well, this year is starting off with many good things happening in my life. I'm very grateful that I am now dating a wonderful guy who has been a close friend for the past few years. We were able to spend Christmas and New Years break together. He is an amazing person and I feel lucky to have him in my life. Here's a few pictures from the holidays!

It's a new year and nothing big is happening in my life at the moment. Not much to report! I do feel like blogging is a lost art, something which I use to do faithfully at least 4 times a week but now...nothing!
I've been content... busy with full time work at a daycare, caring for my 10 yr. old son who is now visiting his dad for a week during March break. I miss him!

I do have a lot on my mind though, a lot I can't express but lots that I'd like to get done to move ahead in my small world but I find myself wandering. I'm not sure what the reason for this is but I don't like it. I'm trying to figure out how my life is going to go from here on and what to make of it. I'm not satisfied or content with just being average or "normal". I don't know what this means nor do I think I'm capable of anything "outstanding", but it's just this feeling in my gut that leads me to believe I am meant to do something that matters. My friends and even people I just meet continually express to me that they get a feeling about me that makes them think I'm different and meant for something special. Who knows what that means...but I'd sure like to find out one of these days.
I feel happy with a small quite life but want something more from it then what it is now. I want to be able to be crazy passionate about something and just go for it. I feel a pull in many ways and don't know which path is the best. How does one find their calling, career, or purpose?
This is just me rambling off so don't pay me to much mind. Just something that I need to get out of my head and onto paper.
I'll be back :)

Please do forgive as it was only out of forgeting my account password and also being so busy with work that it seems easier to post quick tidbits on facebook. But I will try to make up for it by posting pictures of some of the happenings in my life over the last few months!

There was a time when blogs were read every day to keep up with what was happening with family and friends. But that all changed when a little company grew and grew until people began living there whole lives on this little site, where we chatted, posted pictures, made some snippets and statements about everything and nothing just so we weren't caught being "that person" who never updates their wall. I know, I was one of those people!

I want to change and come back to the real world of talking and interacting with people face to face physically, "mano a mano"! This isn't to say I don't like keeping up and knowing what's going on with a people I met way back in the day, but when it comes down to it, the time it takes to view everyones posts and maybe make a comment here and there can take up so much of our precious time that could otherwise be better used in something that will actually help you further yourself in your life right now. So all that to say, I will no longer be on Facebook and will try as much as possible to keep my close family and friends updated through this here blog. It may not be very often but when something important or interesting comes up I'll be sure to post it.

40 days 40 nights

I'm here to embark on a 40 days change of my diet and in the hopes of making it a life time commitment. The first year when I got Crohn's my dear wonderful mother went through every naturopathic book and remedy to help me overcome this illness the natural way. God bless her heart! And during that time she came across this amazing book by Jordan Rubin called "The Maker's Diet" in which he states that he got struck with Crohn's at the age of 19. Got bedridden just like I did and went to see every doctor and tried every "miracle" drug he could....to no avail! Till he found his answer in the Bible, with that creating the 40 days diet to a better life.
I tried it before and felt a huge difference in my body and I want to again clean my insides from all the toxins and poisons that is in our foods today. With the support of you my dear friends and family I think I can make this wish a reality! Whoever knows me can attest that I am not one that is strong in will-power when it comes to food! I love food in all it's shapes and forms, so to take on a challenge like this and eliminate things that I love and enjoy will be no easy task! But by making it know to everyone I pray this will help give me the incentive to complete the task. I will try to publish more in the days to come about this diet and all that it entails, I hope you find it interesting and maybe even helpful to you if you wish to try it at some point. I know that if I can make it... you can too! So here's so a new start to eating and living healthier!

Yep it's true..... this afternoon I went out in snowy weather and past my G2 road test! Give me a shout if you like this, ha! I am just so excited as I feel such a freedom and sense of accomplishment right now! After getting home from the test I tricked everyone into thinking I failed, then my friend (Marty) got everyone together and we suprised them by letting them know I past and Marty brought out some bubbly so we could celerbrate! It was a joyous event!

So last night was the yearly Celerbration of the Family and I went to the banquet hall a few hours early with a team to help set up the place. As I was unstacking the chairs (made from some kind of solid rock/metal) the pile of them tipped over and came crashing down on my left foot. I was knocked to the floor bundled up in pain. Some people rushed over and grabbed me some ice to put on it. I didn't know for sure how bad it was as I was wearing stockings and couldn't get a good look at my foot. But the show had to go on.. so I just tried to continue working as I limped and sat the rest of the night. I felt so bad as I really wanted to help more in getting things ready, I was thinking I had just brusied my toes pretty badly, I was in pain the whole evening but was able to make it through and still make announcments, DJ a bit and take some pictures. The evening turned out beautiful and everyone had a great time. (pictures will come) SO we we got home it was already 2:00 am and I didn't have the strength to go get my foot checked that late at night, so I waited till the morning. BUt I did notice that my middle toe had turned blue and black... it was so painful. So this morning I went to a walk in clinic to get it checked.... the doctor took one look at it and said " Yep that toe is broken!" I wasn't to surprised as it was so brused and very painful. But because it's just my toe and not further up on my foot, the doctor just said to wrap it along side my other toes and it will set and be ok in 4 to 6 weeks. I am now referred to by some as "limpy or hop-a-long" Thanks guys hahah! Well it's not bad being that I'm 28 and it's my first broken bone. I'm thankful it wasn't worse!

New year comes with new goals

Lots of things I'm trying to shoot for this year that are new for me. It's the beginning of a new way of thinking and living. I'm trying to find my way and am a bit late in getting started but I'm not letting that worry me. Just looking at the NOW and future to see how I can make steps of progress for me and my son.
Please keep in your prayers that my road test will be booked soon (this month) as I've been waiting to take it and my driving instructor keeps giving me the round about and is now saying the only opening is for March 2nd. I'm a bit frustrated as I thought I'd be driving by now. So your prayers would be appreciated!

I am looking into getting a car and need lots of help and advice on this one. Don't really have a lot of money to work with. Need something small and in good condition so it won't brake on me. Please pray that I can find a way to pay for it, through a miracle of funds, donation of a car, better income etc. all the above is good, ha!

I'm very thankful that last month I was able to find a job within a week,working at a daycare! It's a new experience and I'm learning lots. I hope that in some way this will help me get ahead.

I am also considering the option of getting a ECE teachers certification. Just doing the research now and hope that I can find the right thing to plug into. You can keep that in your prayers too.
I have more things on my mind and on my plate but right now it's off to bed. Pretty tired as I'm working with the kiddos again tomorrow.

But lastly before I take off, could you keep my health in your prayers as well. As I need to be functioning 100% to do this job, be a good mom, work with the teens in my city, find a car and pay bills. Its the story of every one's life I know... but I let it get to me sometimes and that's not good. I read up all the time about positive thinking, not stressing the small stuff (0r big) Laugh more, relax etc. And I do try.... but it seems like I'm picking myself up more then I am at staying up. I wish I could be those people that you read about who, when they put their mind to something they just do it no matter what, they have such self discipline and motivation to actually make they're dreams a reality. I want and need to be like that and be happy too! :-)

Had so much fun with you on your Bday....definately doing that again! I'm just thrilled all the way down to my toes that we live so close and we can visit often. There's so many good and wonderful things I could say about you... how you are so beautiful, talented and passinate about life. This Christmas has turned out to be quite exciting. At the beginning of October we planned to have a childrens show as well as a youth caroling group. We practiced and practiced for about 2 months and as the end of November came to a close we had a number of volunteer shows booked at Senior's homes and hospitals for the month of December ... but no payed bookings, we were a little worried as we had put a lot into our program and hoped that it would pay off. We prayed for the Lord to have His perfect way. As December came around we started our singing at some pubs and restaurants along with our volunteer shows, meeting sweet people along the way and rebuilding friendships with people we met last year. I have much more to say and will post more pictures on another post! But for now here are some of the programs we've done!

She was Audry Hupburn from "Breakfast at Tiffiny's" and I was very happy with the way my outfit turned out being that I didn't have anything to start with and wanted to be a classy 50's movie star too but then one afternoon I found this dress at a Salvation Army store, put a belt on it ,and already had the hat. Then I got gloves and a pearl necklace and bracelet,wore red lipstick to match my painted red nails heehee! I just wish we had gotten more pictures, as it's not everyday I get to wear cool 50's clothing. Maybe that should be my new wardrobe? Heeeheee

I love you guys but it's been hard to keep this blog updated and since I haven't posted in awhile I just wanted to let you know that I'm not planning on making any new resolutions to be more faithful with it as it's not on my list of priorities and most of all, and I don't really need to pour out my thoughts on all of you about the everyday happenings of my life. It's not that I don't care or want to keep you updated but to make it easier for me in my busy work life I'll post only about any extreme happenings or news that's worthwhile. So now you don't need to wonder "why isn't she posting any more, what's happened?" Just know that I'm well and busy with life and love you very much! Wish I could take time to visit each and everyone of my friends and family and let you know how much I care about you and wish you well! Remember to keep a positive mind and when you fall ...pick yourself back up and try again, you will succeed in anything you put your mind to! XOXOX

This Sunday I was finally able to throw Devin a birthday party since on his actual day the area was having problems with lice, so we couldn't have kids over. But that's all done and over with Thank the Lord and the day turned out very fun and enjoyable for the kids! We had the party outside, played some games and the younger girls help me make a obstacle course relay which turned out pretty good! It's been awhile since we have been able to get the kids together like this so I'm glad this day worked out and I hope to have a kids day again soon!

Here's my attempt in making a cool skateboard cake.

Devin picked out the design from an online site.. so I tried to make it look the same. But my poor icing was to droopy. I used Oreos for thr wheels!

Mike came too. He was trying to light to candles but we had a nice strong wind that kept blowing out the flame.

Devin was a little nervous being in the spotlight! He's a shy one at times

We manged to get at least one candle lit that he could blow out!

Joy has been staying with us for awhile and we both love photography so on our day off we thought it'd be a great idea to take some shots of each other out in the beautiful country where we live. The landscape here is really amazing and great for picture taking. So in this first post I put up the ones Joy took of me. Now, mind you that this was all for fun and for me personally being able to get some practice in working with lighting etc. (Not being vain here... ha!) Yes today I can flaunt you on my blog as it's your birthday and I just want everyone to know how wonderful and beautiful you are (not that they don't know this already)! The first time I met you gave me the impression that you were a sweet, kindred, free spirited girl and after moving in to live with you and getting to know you better I realized... I was right! Your wonderful in so many ways....ahhh and beautiful as they come! What can I say, you know it's true the men they love you! But more then just your stunning beauty is your winning spirit and personality. Your so helpful and caring, always making sure others are Ok and happy. If they aren't you easily brighten their day with your cheery laugh and cute sense of humor. And even though you don't think you are right now, I think your doing a wonderful job in running the kitchen. Even though you may still have things to learn, your a hard worker and fast learner so things will only get better in no time! Thank you for being a friend and spending time with me when there's no one to hang out with :-) I want to wish you a fabulous year ahead in finding your place of happiness and fulfillment. Devin's 9th Birthday!

Devin turned 9 yesterday! Wow.. it's so cool I have such a big boy. He's a great kid with lots of spunk and energy (sometimes to much for me too handle) but I wouldn't trade it for the world. His kind heart and sweet spirit makes up for he's rascalness (is that a word?) I'm so blessed to have him in my life and am thankful the Lord gave him to me. I always wanted more kids as I love caring for and teaching them but with the things the Lord has brought into my life, He saw fit to give me just one and I can't complain.

I love you soooo much Devin and it's my hope and prayer that I can give you want you need, teach and train you in the way you should go, be there for you when you fall, listen to you when you need to pour out your heart, dry your tears when you are hurting, and fill your life with 1,000 million hugs, smiles, and laughs. You keep me young and fresh in spirit and body, your simplicity, faith and trust reminds me to be that way with the Lord. So thank you for all that you are teaching me in return! I wish the very best for you this coming year and that the Lord will keep you and you will continue to grow and learn many new things this year!

Life is a challenge and full of surprises. I can personally say that it's not easy to always see the good in some of the situations we find ourselves in. But thankfully there are people who have been there before us, know how we feel, and have written about how they fought and overcame, which when read can help us do the same. The tough things we go through in life are meant to strengthen our spirits and if we let it, build our character so we in turn can be a help and encouragement to those that are suffering. Marine land

A week ago our area went to Marineland with all our kids. It was an amazing experience and we had soooo much fun. The shows were great, the kids enjoyed some great rides. I even went on a huge "dragon cave" roller coaster with Devin...it was freaky but he loved it! Half way through the day we had a picnic on the grass under the shade of a tree, but then it was off again to see more animals and go on more rides. There was even a wild deer area that you could go into and walk beside the deers and pet them, though they all looked like they had been in the sun far to long and were dozing off. I personally enjoyed the seal lion and dolphin shows and then watching the Marine mammals swim around through the huge glass windows. And of course the roller coaster was a rush!

Took a trip up to dad's place this weekend with Devin and Andre. Had a really fun, relaxing time. It's been about 2 weeks since I've moved to my new location and I must say I've been having some fun...mostly because I've had the privilege of caring for 5 great kids who are full of vinegar and spice. Summers been a blast as we've busied ourselves with rock painting, nature colleague, long hikes, swimming,painting on canvases, and playing lots of games! And in the next few weeks it'll get better as we have a few things lined up: Area picnic trip to a beach lake, Marine land, and a kids Graduation day!

Yep...I don't mind saying it now! I use to be one who cringed at the thought of getting closer to 30 but I've found out that I just had a misconstrued idea of what "old" was, and I think a lot of young people do too. I know that when your in the 18-25 age bracket that you feel your at the top of your game, your living life, having fun and the thought of "getting older" like being in your 30's is a terrifying thing. When in reality that's when life starts getting good. You've come to know who you are as an individual, your more focused about your goals and what you want out of life, your more comfortable in your own skin and don't worry as much of what people think of you. And if you can keep a positive mindset about your age and strive to keep fit, eating healthy and loving life then I'd say 30's can be the best time of our lives....and the only thing stopping us from living our lives to it's fullest potential is a negative mindset that makes you stop feeling young. Your only as old as you think you are.... so think YOUNG, live your life to the full, enjoy the age you are. It's amazing how happy you can be if you have a healthy attitude about aging, it's a blessing not a curse! I know I want to make the most of each year that passes, I know how short life can be and I'm not going to waste it worrying about getting older. I love my life...the good and the bad, I love that I'm learning so much every year that passes, and I'm excited about how much more there is to learn. I'm thankful for this life and getting a second chance to live it. I'm grateful for my amazing family who's always there when you need them, and my friends...there's just not enough words to describe just how wonderful they all are. I'm so so blessed to have so many! So here's to a new year...one filled with exciting challenges, Change, good health, and feeling young in heart and body.

Carnival

A few days ago a friend gave me 12 tickets to a carnival that was set up in the mall parking lot... so it was a pretty small one. My dad and me took 3 of the kids there for 4 rides each. Devin, my youngest sister Amy and Lizzy went. They were all jazzed about going on two of the biggest rides first as the other ones looked too "kiddy". So they went on the first one which strapped them in and started going up and down in a circular motion and after about 3 rounds the girls start screaming in fright...Devin joins in thinking that maybe it's more fun that way. But the girls weren't enjoying themselves at all and wanted down right away...poor things looked terrified, so needless to say they didn't want to go on the other big ride as they had enough. Thankfully there was this tall slide that they did enjoy and got to go one twice while I took Devin on the gravity UFO looking one where it spun us around so fast we were stuck to the wall, Devin and me were laughing the whole time at each other trying to pull our arms away from the wall as the gravity was keeping us tightly pinned, afterwards I felt pretty sick with my head throbbing from the spinning...not my cup of tea! After that the kids went on a big jungle gym thing where they had to climb some stairs, jump on a bouncing balloon, walk across a netted bridge and slide down a very slow slide, they seemed to enjoy that one too so at the end of it all I guess it was a success..Yeay!

It takes the visionaries, the men of wild faith and vision and boundless energy to go into a jungle or a desert and make it explode, the ones who can see the possibilities and potential and believe in it and do it and try it to see what it could be. I was suppose to have gotten this started at the beginning of the month but there's been a lot going on in my life but better late then never. So tomorrow's the big day to start my driving lessons. It's a four day course, so for the next four Thursdays I will be out on the road with my instructor learning all I can, then it's off to 25 hours of in class study...OH JOY!

Went to a BBQ on Sunday to celebrate brother and sister, Laniy and Oli's brithdays. It was a very big turn out with lots of people filling every corner. Last Friday we held an event for the young teens in the area. We started with songs and a class from Matt. 25 (skit included). We then had hoped for sunny skies so we could play soccer but we got rain instead. That didn't stop the die- hards though, they went out and had a blast. While some of us girls searched the park for a restroom and happened to bumped into a mean, mean lady inside this building we thought was a school, just inches from the bathroom she told us to leave the building as there was a private function going on...grrrrr! We ended up walking to the other side of the park with light rain drizzling down till we found it....sweet relief! Walking back we arrived just in time to see the food arrive. My brother Andre provisioned some hamburger patties that my mom so kindly cooked up for us as there were no grills at the park nor did we have a BBQ that fit in the car. So my mom cooked up the food and brought it to us at the end of the soccer game. We also had cookies and ice cream for them which I think some enjoyed just a little to much, lol. What a day!

It was such a nice surprise not only for Abi but for Laila and myself as well. We went out to get our nails done (A first for me and I highly recommend all ladies make a day for themselves and do it at least twice a year!) While sitting there soaking our feet and then having our toes made beautiful, this amazing chair is massaging your whole back & neck for some added pleasure....ahhhhhh! It felt soooo goooood :-)

Our next stop....SUSHI! It was a cute beautiful closed in room just perfect for our small group, except they could have had cushions for our poor backs ha! But over all...very nice! Here's the beautiful birthday girl and baby.

Had a beautiful fun-filled day, with egg painting, treasure hunt and watching a big soccer game at the park near our house, seeing friends and spending the day with Devin...Ahhh I'm a happy puppy! We'll be watching clips of a Jesus movie later on tonight, reminding us of the beautiful, amazing miracle of Jesus Resurrection. It's something that words can never express well enough and something that we sometimes take for grated because we've heard it all our lives...but if you can, do take time to ponder what Jesus has done for us!

He is with us...ALWAYS! Even if you believe it or not, even if we stray and forget him, He's right there waiting to take us back into His loving arms. He loves us that much! I know not how to repay.... I know I am unworthy but I just want to say.... Thank You!

Two days ago after we thought spring was finally here, the snow had melted and the weather was not below 0 anymore, we got hit with snow and ice once more. "Why... oh why is this Canadian weather so crazy?" I thought, "We just want warmth." But then I went out to the side of my house and found this! Just glistening in the sun, it was a beautiful sight. God's little ways of giving me joy in the midst of sadness. It just shows you can find a little ray of sunshine to brighten up your day...if you look for it!

I had hoped to say a few farewell words for dear Kizzy earlier this week but was waiting for some pictures. But since it's getting late I will say them now and the pictures will have to follow later.
Kizzy let me know today that she has arrived safe and sound in her new abode. She's happy as one can be with the warm sun and beautiful weather that she's been yearning for all winter. We were all blessed up here that she even graced us with her cheerful continence and sweet demeanour and she will always be remembered and in our hearts now that she is gone. I admire her dedication to her job.....always faithfully cooking away or planning on cooking or talking about cooking, whatever it was day or night...it was cooking. It was hard to make her stop, even on her going away party....I arrived to find....yes she's in the kitchen making snacks for her going away party, now that's what I call hard core! I'm glad we got to hang out before you left Kiz, had lots of fun playing pool and talking, though I forgot I was going to buy you a tequila shot! Oh well....next time we meet I owe you one! Wishing you the best in your new place....know your gonna have fun. Please know that you will be missed! And for all you down there....take care of our dear Kizzy!

My get away

I have this picture on my desktop because when I see it I can picture myself there, total relaxed after having a body massage, breathing in the fresh ocean air, and taking in the scenery before me. I need that...to get away sometimes from the hubbub of active work life and slip away to that peaceful place where I can meditate and focus on Jesus and all the good things in my life. It's such a lifesaver when the cares of this world get to you and you feel yourself stretched out to thin. Just close your eyes for a few moments throughout the day, take some deep breathes, then cast all those cares and the stress your feeling onto Jesus and then He can fill you with His peace,comfort and joy! It's so refreshing!

March break fun

For this spring break we were able to do some fun activities with the kids. There's so much to do with them here that I have lots of ideas for the summer...should be fun! We went to an IMAX "under the sea" show, narrated by Jim Carey himself!!! You can imagine how thrilled I was. Not only was it my first time at an IMAX theater but to add Jim to the mix was just, well.....Fabulous!!! LOL
We also held a baking contest between the girls, the boys were the judges. My sister Carmel and Crew made this amazing blueberry, chocolate moose roll. It was sooo tasty! Guys sure did enjoy themselves!
On the first outting, some of the kids got to visit a farm, see some animals and do weaving at their work shop. Devin was sick that day...poor hunny so couldn't go. But it looked like the girls had a good time there! Here are the pictures of all that!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I set up a St. Patrick's picnic out in the back porch today as the sun was shining and most of the kids where out visiting a farm. I'm so happy for sun! We painted our faces and were just missing the beer.

Whew...We did it!

Finally...after all our colds and flu's have subsided and then finding a date that most people were happy with, we were able to hold our yearly Family Celebration. There was lots of organizing involved but I worked with a good team. Everyone did an amazing job and I think it turned out well and everyone enjoyed themselves....at least I hope they did. I know things weren't perfect but over all I believe people were just happy to be there and hear the beautiful things the Lord has been doing in everyone's lives and homes. I was able to take some pictures but will not post any till I get the "OK" from certain individuals, so as to not get myself into trouble for "posting pictures without consent." Something I'm working on! Please do say YES you guys as I think your all beautiful and handsome, so don't be shy,kay?

Ok so this might be a long post but it's because I went crazy taking pictures today and felt the need to post and comment about them all.
So without further ado....

It was nice to hear from you. Thanks for calling before you left. Just wanted you to know that you'll be in our prayers while your in Afghanistan. You were always a wonderful Uncle and friend to Devin and he still talks about you as his favorite teacher in Purto Rico. You really do have a knack with kids. We're all looking forward to your return and visit. So be safe and know that you have some pretty mighty protection around you. Here's just a few photos of the last time I saw you. It's so funny, Andre still had long hair, and so did Devin. I was still sick and skinny and the kids were all still short ha! We miss you and love you so much!

I know there are a lot of you that will have someone special to celebrate this day with. A day when we celebrate love! But there are others of us that may not be as thrilled when this day rolls around, but if we could all take time and try to get away from the idea of a "mushy couple and boyfriend/girlfriend" Valentines, and see it as a day far better then that, something that can last all year long. We all believe in love, right? You believe your family loves you and that you love them...no? So why not take this day to remind your family how much you appreciate then, tell your friends how much they mean to you, search for someone that could use some encouragement today and be there for them. But don't save it all for just today...keep on giving, keep on loving all year 'round! Even though you may not feel like you have any reason to celebrate, you can if you start looking outward instead of in. 3 other January birthday's!

I've already posted about my wonderful younger sister's birthday, but there are 3 more that I didn't forget, just didn't post about right away. Hope you can forgive me! So here they are:

First off was my dad Simon's birthday. It's been great to have the chance to work with this crazy dude for so long. He is a wonderful dad, friend and co-worker! Hope this year has many good things heading your way dad, Love you!

Next, my second to youngest sister Katrina turned 12. My... how this one has grown...literally! Ha, she's my look-a-like sis when I was a kid. But of course her own unique self. So cheery, caring and helpful! Look out for this one when she grows up.

And last but certainly not least, my oldest sister....Christina! It's been such a treat to live so close to you after all these years. Your an amazing person and I love the times we can spend together. I'm so thankful you found this wonderful fellow here beside you and I wish all the best for you two in the years to come. It's great to have a sister like you! xoxo

Now I believe January had the most birthday's for our family, all the other 14 of us are spread through out the rest of the year.... how to keep track I'll never know...heehee! Love you all! xoxo

Super Bowl Sunday

I got to go visit friends on the 1st for my day off. It was a beautiful sunny day,perfect for relaxing and enjoying good company. We then heading out to watch the Superbowl at another friends house, it was a small group of us but lots of fun. It didn't seem like it would be exciting game at the beginning as the Cardinals were getting whipped but then in the 4th quarter things started happening...there was shouting, people sitting at the edge of their sits fingers in mouth, you name it.... it was intense. But no fear the Steelers had it in the bag the whole time. Amazing finish and job well done(except for those few personal fouls... not cool) Not to mention seeing history in the making with James Harrison making the 100 yard interseption touchdown return! SWEET!
